HighlightsofXi'sWrittenSpeechatAPEC2022:BuildinganAsia-PacificCommunitywithaSharedFuture_GuangmingOnlineHighlightsofXi'sWrittenSpeechatAPEC2022:BuildinganAsia-PacificCommunitywithaSharedFutureChinesePresidentXiJinpingdeliveredawrittenspeechtitled"StayingCommittedtoandJointlyPromotingDevelopmenttoBringAsia-PacificCooperationtoNewHeights"attheAsia-PacificEconomicCooperation(APEC)CEOSummitinBangkok,Thailand,onNov.17,2022.Herearethehighlightsofthespeech:First,weshouldbolsterthefoundationforpeacefuldevelopment.WeshouldabidebythepurposesandprinciplesoftheUNCharter,pursuethevisionofcommon,comprehensive,cooperativeandsustainablesecurity,andjointlyrejecttheColdWarmentalityandblocconfrontation.WeneedtobuildanAsia-PacificsecurityarchitecturetocreateconditionsforensuringeconomicdevelopmentanddurablepeaceandstabilityintheAsia-Pacific.Second,weshouldtakeapeople-centereddevelopmentapproach.Weneedtoensurepeople'swell-beingthrougheconomicdevelopment,meettheneedsofvulnerablegroups,narrowtheincomegapandfosteraninclusiveenvironmentfordevelopment.ThedevelopedeconomiesintheAsia-Pacificshouldplayapositiveroleandactivelysupportthedevelopingeconomies.Together,wecanforgeanewpartnershipofunityandequality,apartnershipthatisbalancedandinclusive.Third,weshouldpursuehigher-levelopening-up.WeneedtodeepencooperationwithintheAPECframework,advancethebuildingofaFreeTradeAreaoftheAsia-PacificandimplementthePutrajayaVision.WeneedtoengagefullyanddeeplyinthereformoftheWorldTradeOrganization,achievebetteralignmentamongtheRegionalComprehensiveEconomicPartnership,theComprehensiveandProgressiveAgreementforTrans-PacificPartnershipandtheDigitalEconomyPartnershipAgreement,andbuildanopenAsia-Pacificeconomy.Fourth,weshouldstriveforhigher-standardconnectivity.Weshould,guidedbytheAPECConnectivityBlueprint,boosthardandsoftconnectivityandexchangeofpersonnelinawell-orderedway.ChinawillactivelyenhancethecomplementaritybetweentheBeltandRoadInitiativeandthedevelopmentstrategiesofotherpartiestojointlybuildahigh-qualityAsia-Pacificconnectivitynetwork.Fifth,weshouldbuildstableandunimpededindustrialandsupplychains.Weneedtofollowthelawsgoverningeconomicactivitiesandmarketprinciples,facilitatethefreeflowofproductionfactors,protecttheproductionandsupplysystemsofgoodsandservices,andbuildconvenient,efficientandsecureindustrialandsupplychainsintheAsia-Pacific.Unilateralismandprotectionismshouldberejectedbyall;anyattempttopoliticizeandweaponizeeconomicandtraderelationsshouldalsoberejectedbyall.Sixth,weshouldpromoteeconomicupgrading.Weneedtoembracethenewroundofscientificandtechnologicalrevolutionandindustrialtransformation,acceleratescientific,technologicalandinstitutionalinnovation,fosterneweconomy,newtypesofbusinessandnewbusinessmodels,andachievedigitaltransformationoftheAsia-Pacificeconomy.Itisimportantforustopursuegreenandlow-carbondevelopment,fostergreeneconomicsectors,promotegreenfinance,andspeeduptheestablishmentofanAsia-Pacificgreencooperationframework.Withtheseefforts,wecanmaketheAsia-Pacificaglobalpace-setterinpursuingeconomicdevelopment.Editor:DisclaimerTheviewsandopinionsexpressedinthisarticlearethoseoftheauthor's,GMW.cnmakesnorepresentationsastoaccuracy,suitability,orvalidityofanyinformationonthissiteandwillnotbeliableforanyerrors,omissions,ordelaysinthisinformation.
